Self Help Center Services:

Consultation services:
Consultation services are provided to assist individuals and self-help groups. Consultation services include:

  • Starting a a new group
  • Strategic planning
  • Grant writing
  • Membership recruitment and retention
  • Self-Help group needs assessment
  • Group dynamics and challenges

Workshops
The workshops listed here have been developed by the Self-Help center based on the needs identified by the Self-Help Group Facilitator Needs Assessment Survey conducted in the Fall of 2011.

Each workshop can be tailored to fit the needs of self-help and community group facilitors, as well as those who work with community organizations, community health, and community mobilization efforts.

The Self-Help Center will offer 3-4 workshops a year and groups or organizations can request a workshop at any time. For more information on workshops please contact the Self-Help Center Coordinator, Sam King, at sking@familyservicecc.org or 217-352-0099.

Support Group Directory:

Specialized support group listings:
Specialized support groups listings are available for: Abuse, Addication & Dependency, Caregivers, Disabilities, Grief, Health, Mental Health, Parenting, Sexual Orientation, and Youth. To request a copy of a specialized list please contact Self Help Center Coordinator Sam King at sking@familyservicecc.org or 217-352-0099.

Database of support groups:  
The Self-Help Center maintains an updated database of support groups in Champaign County and surrounding East Central Illinois communities, national groups, and groups in formation. The Center also has information on state-wide support groups and professionals available to assist self-help groups.

The Self Helper:
A Free print newsletter containing information and news relevant to the self-help community. Also available online on the self-help center website.

Lending library
The Self-Help Center maintains an extensive library from the basics of self-help groups through specialized issues within self-help. All books are available to be checked out through the Self-Help Center.
 

Educational packets
